Baka Not Nice has shared that Drake advised him against responding to Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.”
In an interview with Hot Freestyle, the OVO Sound artist, who once served as Drake’s bodyguard, discussed the tension between him and Kendrick and described his initial reaction when Kendrick referenced his criminal past in the song.
“My first instinct was to react quickly and decisively,” Baka explained. “It started to build up inside me because, where I’m from, you can’t just accuse a man without having proof. It’s absurd.”
He added, “And to see everyone backing it up as if it’s the truth was shocking. Everyone needs to realize: I have a child, Drake has a child, so making such accusations is outrageous and unreal.”
Baka went on to reveal that Drake called him during the situation: “I was feeling a lot of anger, but then I got a call — it felt like God spoke to him. The Boy [Drake] said, ‘Yo, I understand how you feel, but just know, don’t pay attention to the noise because it’s just noise.’”
He continued, recalling Drizzy’s advice: “If you look at all the people who are talking, they’re not even real, they’re just bots. Don’t let it get to you, bro. It’s not ideal, but they’re saying your name!”
Baka dismissed Kendrick’s allegations further by stating, “Eventually, people will realize it’s all nonsense, and they’ll do their own research. Then they’ll see that this guy made up a whole story that’s not true. It’s gonna make him look ridiculous.”
He wrapped up by saying, “I just want to say one thing to America: You all need to get your act together because making serious accusations like that, you need real evidence. That’s the most important thing.”

In addition to calling Drake a “pedophile” on “Not Like Us,” Kendrick Lamar also mentioned Baka Not Nice, rapping: “Baka got a weird case, why is he around?”
The “weird case” refers to the allegations that the Toronto native coerced a woman into prostitution.
In 2014, Baka was arrested by Canadian authorities and pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and failing to comply with gun laws. However, the charges related to prostitution and trafficking were dropped after the woman chose not to testify.
Baka served six months in prison as a result of the incident.
