The Roots have announced the lineup for their annual pre-Grammys “Roots Jam Session,” which will take place on Saturday (March 13) with performances from Ant Clemons, Ari Lennox, Jon Batiste and more. The event — produced in partnership with TIDAL and Oculus — will kick off at 9 p.m. ET and also feature Tobe Nwigwe, Emily King, Brittany Spencer and Kathy Sledge.

The livestream will air live simultaneously in virtual reality in the Venues app — available on Oculus Quest — and in 2D video and high-quality audio on TIDAL, with Oculus Quest owners encouraged to subscribe here and TIDAL members and nonmembers invited to tune in here.

The Roots have been throwing their pre-Grammy event for more than a decade, inviting new and veteran acts to jump on stage with them and jam in an intimate setting. This year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the event will be virtual and fans can prep for the big night by checking out the Roots Essentials Playlist on TIDAL.

The Grammy warm-up will set the table for Sunday night’s (March 14) 63rd annual Grammy Awards, which has a jam-packed roster of performers on tap, recently adding Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, as the duo Silk Sonic, to a list that includes: Dua Lipa, Roddy Ricch, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Black Pumas, Cardi B, BTS, Brandi Carlile, DaBaby, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Mickey Guyton, Haim, Brittany Howard, Miranda Lambert, Lil Baby, Chris Martin, John Mayer, Megan Thee Stallion, Maren Morris, Post Malone and Harry Styles.

The 63rd annual Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday (Mar. 14) at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS, Paramount+ and Grammy.com. Online viewers can also stream CBS with free trials on fuboTV and Sling TV. Billboard may receive affiliate commission through links on our site.
