Amy Schumer Goes At Chance The Rapper For Supporting Wendy’s

Amy Schumer has a big problem with Chance The Rapper’s recent tweets involving Wendy’s. Purported worker conditions at Wendy’s’ produce vendors is allegedly less than adequate and seeing Lil Chano support the massive fast food chain evidently set her off.

However, the famous comedian was gentle with her approach. On Monday (May 6), she made her intentions clear and let Chance know she was backing the #BoycottWendys initiative.

“Hey! We love @chancetherapper and hate to be the ones to tell him that Wendys is the only fast food chain refusing to protect farmworker women from sexual assault and rape in the fields,” she captioned a photo of her and her very pregnant belly. “This is true. Please read that sentence again.

“Message for the people in charge: Instead of spicy nuggets, we want food that is harvested with dignity NOT violence. Please join the @fairfoodprogram and #BoycottWendys link in my bio of how you can help. Also we are having a boy.”

Chance was on Twitter over the last week demanding Wendy’s spicy nuggets.

“Positive Affirmations for today: I WILL have a good day. I Will succeed today, Wendy’s WILL bring back spicy nuggets at some point pease please Lord let it be today.”

In response, the restaurant challenged the Grammy Award-winning artist with a “likes” quota.

Schumer is urging Wendy’s to join the Fair Food Program, a workers’ advocacy initiative that pushes for stricter standards on tomato growers.

According to the New York Times, only 20 to 25 percent of tomatoes in the United States are purchased from participating growers. Program organizers believe it could be because larger brands have refused to join, which may influence smaller brands to opt out as well.

Although McDonald’s and Walmart have both joined, Wendy’s refuses and has faced campus protests as result.

So far, Chance has not responded to Schumer’s comments publicly.
