A$AP Rocky has returned with a new single, and it has fans speculating that he might have finally put a ring on Rihanna‘s finger.
The A$AP Mob member dropped off the new track, “Riot (Rowdy Pipe’n),” on Thursday (July 20) as the latest audio preview of his forthcoming album Don’t Be Dumb.
While fans were excited to finally get some new music from the Harlem rapper, keen listeners were quick to pick up on one lyric in particular that seemed to imply he and RiRi may have tied the knot.
“My wife is erotic, I’m smokin’ exotic,” Rocky raps on the bass-heavy banger, which was co-produced by Pharrell.
“Riot (Rowdy Pipe’n),” which also appears in a new Beats Studio Pro commercial that A$AP Rocky directed and stars in, comes after he first referred to Rihanna as his wife while performing at the 2023 Cannes Lions Festival last month.
“I’d like to dedicate this song to my beautiful wife in the muthafuckin’ building!” Rocky said, according to Billboard, before performing his 2022 single “D.M.B.”
The happy couple are currently pregnant with their second child after welcoming their son RZA into the world last May.
In an interview with British Vogue back in February, Rihanna opened up about her relationship with Pretty Flacko.
“We’re best friends with a baby,” she said. “We have to be on the same page, but we’ve always kind of had that in our relationship. Everything changes when you have a baby but I wouldn’t say it’s done anything but made us closer.”
“I’m just sitting on the sidelines when they’re together,” she added of Rocky’s adjustment to fatherhood. “I’m literally the girl trying to get into the boys club, waiting for my turn. He is obsessed with his father. And I’m like: ‘Didn’t I give birth to you? What is going on?’
“Their connection is undeniable. The second Rocky makes eye contact with him he is on fire. The whole thing they say about sons and moms, it’s a myth. Sons and fathers is crazy. I realized that the validation that you really need as a boy is from your father.”
As for his new album, A$AP Rocky announced that the follow-up to 2018’s Testing would be titled Don’t Be Dumb and debuted some unreleased songs — including the Miguel and Thundercat-assisted “Same Problems” — during a performance as part of 2 Chainz’s Amazon Music Live concert series last December.
He also shared more details about his forthcoming LP in a previous interview with GQ, promising a heavy Metro Boomin presence.
“I’m gonna put it to you like this: This next album needs to be just called Flacko Boomin, you hear me?” he said. “Most artists wanna make [collabs just because they’re hot]. For us, it’s like, that’s really my n-gga.”
The pair collaborated for the first time last year on “Feel the Fiyaaah,” from Metro’s Heroes & Villains album, but their paths first crossed a decade ago thanks to A$AP Yams.
“Yams linked me and Metro in 2012,” Rocky added. “This is before he’s working with a lot of people in Atlanta. He was still in college. A$AP Yams told me Metro was gonna be Metro. He was like, ‘This is the kid I’m telling you.’ So, Yams wanted this.”
