Run for cover, the Twerkulators are taking over! These words of caution from Missy Elliot are some of the first you hear in City Girls’ new music video for “Twerkulator,” directed by Elliot herself. The long awaited, dance-packed video dropped Wednesday (July 7) and opens with a giant Twerkulator monster terrorizing the streets of Twerk-City.

The Miami hip-hop duo, comprised of Yung Miami and JT, went viral on Tik Tok after “Twerkulator” was leaked on the internet last year. After its official release, the track debuted at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached No. 19 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. In June, the pair served a performance of “Twerkulator” at the 2021 BET Awards that was just as ostentatious and vibrant as the video.

The “Twerkulator” video is super colorful in all aspects — clothing, lighting, makeup, hair, scenery and everything in between. Yung Miami and JT wear pink and black MCM bodysuits in a room with matching wallpaper, perform dance breaks in a graffitied lot and pose as the hands of a golden clock — all while the Twerkulator monster wreaks havoc by twerking up against city’s skyscrapers.

Before the big splash made by “Twerkulator,” the City Girls made waves with singles such as “Twerk” featuring Cardi B, “Act Up” and “Pussy Talk” featuring Doja Cat. Their discography includes a mixtape, PERIOD, and two albums — 2018’s Girl Code and 2020’s City On Lock.
