Most teenagers are happy to celebrate turning 18 with a party or a new car. Not rapper Bhad Bhabie (aka Danielle Bregoli). The teen known for Dr. Phil-spawned meme “Cash Me Outside” is planning to mark her birthday on Friday (March 26) in a super of-the-moment way — with an NFT auction.
According to a release from Bhabie’s team, her “ETH Me Outside: A CASH ME OUTSIDE NFT” retrospective will feature an original collection of digital icons based on 2017’s most searched meme, hitting the auction block as NFTs (non-fungible tokens), the unique blockchain-supported digital objects that have become the hottest commodity on the crypto market.
The Bhabie auction will include 20 NFTs containing original works based on the “Cash Me Outside” meme, the rapper’s rise to fame, her music and the meme culture, with contributions from a group of filmmakers, visual artists, photographers, music producers and fashion designers who’ve worked with Bregoli or who were picked by her and are comprised of “female and binary talent.” The NFTs are “an artistic representation of the meme’s reach,” a rep tells Billboard — not a reproduction of the Dr. Phil footage.
The first round of Bhabie NFTs will drop on Friday through Opensea, with a first-time female and binary-only drop on March 29 on Rarible, and another on March 31 on Zora. Among the participating artists are Nick Goosen & David Spade, Glassface, Oseanworld, Pastelae, Harriet Blend, Goodboyshady, Paola Pinna, Indietrent, Super Trip 64, producer Pliznaya and more.
Among the items up for auction are ownership of the iconic “Cash Me Outside” meme, personalized video of the transfer sale from Bhabie to the buyer from the rapper’s Instagram and YouTube, and one 16-bar verse feature from Bregoli, among others.
