50 Cent recently relocated from New York to Houston, Texas and the hip-hop entrepreneur couldn’t have gotten a warmer, more fitting welcome. On Saturday (May 8), 50 (born Curtis Jackson), had the welcome mat rolled out via a big win at the 2021 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo when he scored Reserve Grand Champion Best of Show at the Rodeo’s International Wine Competition for his champagne, Le Chemin du Roi.

The rapper celebrated the win in the auction in a tweet, where he wrote, “Last Auction of the Night – 2021 @RODEOHOUSTON Charity Wine Auction – 3 of @lecheminduroi Raised $360k – Record – Thats what you call a Texas Sized Green Light Gang.” In a video of the sale, a cowboy walks around with the magnum of champagne and calls out the winning bid after 50, rocking a black cowboy hat, makes an early, losing six-figure bid.

In fact, he tweeted a bit earlier, “Man there are some people in Texas that got a lot of money. I bid $175,000 for a bottle of wine and I still lost.” In another tweet, 50 is proudly standing next to his commemorative Grand Champion saddle while showing off his blingy, oversized belt buckle.

The Rodeo also paid tribute to 50, congratulating him on the win and tweeting, “We’re SO happy you made the move to Houston!” And it definitely seems like 50 is loving his new hometown too, saying in another video, “I’m out here, I’m enjoying myself. I’m in Houston. I’m a new resident. And I’m really excited about being here at the Houston Livestock [Show and Rodeo].”
